EDUCATION philosophy

My education philosophy is to be creative whilst fostering critical thinking in learners. Information is everywhere and young people know where and how to find it. Therefore, I like to find ways of engaging students in deep thought, using inclusive methods and challenging accepted ways of being and patterns of behaviour in the classroom, for example using contemplative pedagogy. I mix traditional methods with radical approaches and work with students as partners in co-creation and collaboration.

curriculum development

I recently developed a new BSc in Global Sustainability. This course is highly innovative and interdisciplinary with a focus on addressing the grand challenges facing Planet Earth and its living systems. It involves students in problem solving at a global scale to equip our graduates with the tools needed to address complex societal challenges.

This course is based in Life Sciences but students can take optional modules across our 3 faculties and 5 departments: Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy and Government for a truly interdisciplinary experience.
